Bolognese pasta bake

Bolognese pasta bake layers cooked pasta with rich meat sauce and creamy béchamel, topped with melted mozzarella cheese to create a hearty, comforting casserole. Baking develops golden, bubbly cheese on top while blending the layers into a cohesive dish. It’s ideal for make-ahead meals and serving family-style.

Description

This Bolognese pasta bake combines pre-cooked pasta with rich bolognese sauce and smooth béchamel to create a layered casserole. By mixing these components and adjusting consistency with reserved pasta water, the dish achieves a creamy texture without heaviness. The grated mozzarella sprinkled between and atop the layers melts and browns during baking, developing a golden crust and adding a stretchy, cheesy element.

The bake is cooked at a high temperature to ensure bubbling throughout and a well-melted cheese top. Letting the dish rest before serving allows it to firm slightly for easier portioning. This recipe suits feeding multiple people or making ahead for convenience.

The notes suggest assembling ahead and refrigerating or freezing. When baking from frozen, additional time is needed for thorough reheating while preserving texture. This practicality makes it suitable for busy cooks wanting a prepared meal.
