Bourbon Pecan Pie

Bourbon Pecan Pie features a rich filling of eggs, butter, light corn syrup, sugar, and vanilla, enhanced with bourbon for depth, poured over pecan halves in a traditional pie crust. Baking yields a firm, custardy texture surrounded by crunchy nut topping and flaky crust, offering a classic dessert experience.

Description

This pie starts with a prepared 9-inch deep dish pie crust chilled before filling. The filling is whisked by combining room temperature eggs with sugar, melted unsalted butter, light corn syrup, pure vanilla extract, and bourbon to add warmth and flavor. Pecan halves are folded gently into the mixture.

After pouring the mixture into the crust, it bakes at 350°F for about an hour until the center reaches 200°F, indicating it is set but not liquid. The pie puffs in the oven and settles upon cooling to a custard with a firm texture and crisp pecan topping surrounded by the golden pie crust.

This pie is traditionally served at gatherings and benefits from cooling for 1.5 to 2 hours at room temperature before refrigerating. Adding homemade whipped cream on top enhances richness and balances the sweetness.

Check doneness with an instant-read thermometer to ensure the custard is correctly set, and test by gently tapping the center to confirm it springs back slightly.
