Bourbon Sweet Potatoes

Bourbon Sweet Potatoes are a twist on candied sweet potatoes. Topped with pecans and flaky sea salt for a holiday side dish everyone will love!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup toasted pecans chopped
  • Flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. And spray a 9x13 or similar size baking dish with cooking spray. 
  2. Slice the sweet potatoes into 1/4 inch rounds and arrange them in the baking dish. Season them with salt and pepper (I used about 1/2-3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt)
  3. In a glass measuring cup melt the butter and then to it add the maple syrup, bourbon, and spices. Pour the sauce all over the potatoes.
  4. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until they’re soft and tender. Halfway through the baking time spoon the sauce from the bottom of the dish over the potatoes. You can also toss them around in the sauce if presentation isn’t important. Once baked, top with toasted chopped pecans and flaky sea salt.
