Braised Celery - A Simple Side Dish
Description
Braised Celery prepares celery stalks by slicing them into one-inch diagonal pieces, then sautéing in butter with seasoning to soften and build flavor. Adding vegetable broth and simmering under a lid steams the celery until tender. Removing the lid at the end allows excess liquid to evaporate, concentrating the flavors and leaving the celery tender but not mushy.
This method yields a side dish with delicate texture and mellow flavor, showcasing celery’s natural qualities enhanced by butter and seasoning. The reserved celery leaves can be used as garnish, adding a fresh, green note and visual appeal at serving.
Simple and straightforward, this side pairs well with a variety of main dishes where a lightly cooked vegetable component is desired. It suits home cooks seeking a mild, buttery vegetable dish using an inexpensive ingredient.
