Braised Potatoes with Beef

This Braised Potatoes with Beef recipe combines cubed beef, diced onions, and chopped carrots browned and simmered with tomato paste, bay leaves, and seasoning, then slowly cooked with potatoes until tender. The dish results in hearty beef and soft potatoes in a richly seasoned broth, perfect for a comforting, filling meal.

Description

Beef cubes are seared in an iron cast oven with neutral oil, developing a browned crust for added flavor. Onions and carrots join the beef, cooking until golden before adding bay leaves and beef or chicken-flavored Better Than Bullion for depth. A mixture of tomato paste and water creates a flavorful simmering liquid that gently braises the meat over about 45 minutes until tender.

After the beef becomes tender, cubed potatoes are added and cooked further until soft. This slow simmering melds flavors and textures, leaving the potatoes infused with the savory sauce and the beef thoroughly cooked but still moist.

This dish serves as a filling entree, pairing well with simple sides or eaten alone as a wholesome stew-like meal.
