Bratwurst Recipe
Description
The Get the Recipe: Bratwurst Recipe uses bratwurst sausages cooked in a mix of butter, onions, and liquid broth or beer. The onions are first softened in butter to develop sweetness and a tender texture. The bratwurst are then added to the skillet with liquid and simmered for about 20 minutes, allowing the sausages to cook through thoroughly and absorb some of the savory broth or beer flavors. After simmering, the bratwurst are removed for a short, high heat sear to create a firm, browned exterior while retaining juicy interiors. The final dish is served with the cooked onions, which add a mild, salty-sweet balance to the sausages.
This method keeps the bratwurst moist and flavorful and gives the onions a golden softness. The recipe allows the use of any type of bratwurst and flexibility in the cooking liquid, substituting broth for beer if preferred, including gluten-free options.
Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to five days, making this recipe practical for meal planning. The combination of simple sautéed onions with simmered then seared bratwurst creates a satisfying texture and depth of flavor without complicated preparation steps.

- pinch salt sea salt
- 4 bratwurst sausage

- To get the sear, remove everything from the skillet. Turn up heat to medium high. Add in only Brats. Sear on each side for 1 minute.

Notes
- Any bratwurst variety can be used to suit preference.
- Stir onions regularly during cooking to avoid burning and achieve even softening.
- Choose broth or beer as the simmering liquid based on dietary needs; broth works well for gluten-free diets.
- Additional broth may be needed if the liquid reduces too much during simmering.
- Store leftover bratwurst and onions in the refrigerator for up to five days.
