Brazilian Chicken Seasoning (Tempero Em Pó Para Frango)

This Brazilian Chicken Seasoning is a carefully balanced blend of onion powder, garlic powder, dried herbs, paprika, and turmeric, with a touch of cayenne for heat and optional achiote for color. Ground to a fine powder, it is designed to infuse chicken with savory, aromatic flavors before baking, grilling, or pan frying. This seasoning mix offers an easy way to create a distinctively seasoned poultry dish using pantry staples.

Description

The Brazilian Chicken Seasoning combines multiple dried spices and herbs, including onion and garlic powder, chives, parsley, paprika, turmeric, and cayenne, creating a complex flavor profile with mild heat and earthiness. The optional achiote adds a deep color and subtle aroma. After grinding all ingredients finely, this blend is stored dry and used by coating chicken with salt and then the seasoning before cooking. The seasoning works well for various cooking methods like baking, grilling, or pan frying, giving the chicken both color and balanced seasoning. This ready spice mix eliminates the need for multiple separate seasonings during meal prep.

The use of dried herbs like chives and parsley adds freshness without moisture, helping the seasoning adhere to the chicken. Turmeric introduces a warm tone and the cayenne a gentle kick. The white bay leaf adds mild floral notes during cooking when the seasoning is applied to the meat, further enriching the flavor. This seasoning mix can be prepared in advance and stored for months to use whenever chicken is on the menu.
