Brazilian Picadillo Recipe

Brazilian Picadillo features ground beef cooked with sautéed onions, bell pepper, garlic, and a blend of spices including cumin, oregano, and paprika. Green olives, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, and red wine vinegar add tang and depth, while fresh parsley tops the finished dish. The result is a savory, slightly tangy meat preparation with a layered flavor profile, simmered to meld the ingredients.

Description

The Brazilian Picadillo recipe begins by sautéing onions and bell pepper in olive oil until soft and fragrant, then adding garlic for additional aroma. Ground beef is cooked until browned over medium-low heat, then seasoned with salt, pepper, cumin, oregano, and paprika to introduce warm and herbaceous notes. Chopped green olives and red wine vinegar contribute a sharp, briny character balancing the richness of the meat.

Tomato paste and canned diced tomatoes add body and acidity, while a bay leaf imparts subtle complexity during a simmering phase. The dish is cooked covered, then briefly uncovered to thicken and intensify. A sprinkle of fresh parsley finishes the dish, providing a fresh herbal contrast. This simmered meat mixture offers a combination of tender meat, flavorful spices, and bright accents from the vinegar and olives.

Brazilian Picadillo is suitable as an entrée or served alongside rice or bread. Its hearty texture and complex flavor make it a versatile option for a grounded, savory meal.
