Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook the sausage in a pan over medium-high heat and use a spatula to break up the sausage as it cooks. Cook the sausage for about 5 minutes, or until it is browned and cooked through all the way. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, cheese, salt, and pepper.
  4. Line a 9x13 inch glass baking sheet with the biscuit dough and then pour the egg mixture on top.
  5. Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the top of the biscuits and then cook the casserole for 35 minutes, or until the tops of the biscuits begin to turn golden brown.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Try other seasonings: If salt and pepper are too simple, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika are great options to add more flavor to the breakfast biscuit casserole.
  • Layer evenly: Ensure that you layer the ingredients evenly so the casserole cooks evenly as well. Be sure to start with 8 biscuits to fill up the bottom of the baking dish.
  • No need to use foil: You don’t need to cover the casserole before you bake it. The biscuits will get the best color that way.
  • Whisk thoroughly. Make sure that you whisk the eggs and milk together thoroughly so that the eggs are well beaten for a lighter texture.
  • Use cooked and drained sausage. This prevents a greasy texture to the casserole.
