Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cook the sausage in a pan over medium-high heat and use a spatula to break up the sausage as it cooks. Cook the sausage for about 5 minutes, or until it is browned and cooked through all the way. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, cheese, salt, and pepper.
- Line a 9x13 inch glass baking sheet with the biscuit dough and then pour the egg mixture on top.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the top of the biscuits and then cook the casserole for 35 minutes, or until the tops of the biscuits begin to turn golden brown.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Try other seasonings: If salt and pepper are too simple, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika are great options to add more flavor to the breakfast biscuit casserole.
- Layer evenly: Ensure that you layer the ingredients evenly so the casserole cooks evenly as well. Be sure to start with 8 biscuits to fill up the bottom of the baking dish.
- No need to use foil: You don’t need to cover the casserole before you bake it. The biscuits will get the best color that way.
- Whisk thoroughly. Make sure that you whisk the eggs and milk together thoroughly so that the eggs are well beaten for a lighter texture.
- Use cooked and drained sausage. This prevents a greasy texture to the casserole.
