Broiled Fish with Tomato Caper Sauce

Broiled Fish with Tomato Caper Sauce pairs tender fish fillets with a bright, savory tomato and caper topping. The fish is seasoned and broiled to cook quickly with a delicate texture, while the sauce is sautéed with garlic, shallots, tomatoes, and white wine, adding acidity from the wine and saltiness from capers. This method highlights fresh seafood flavors with fresh, piquant accompaniments.

Description

This recipe starts by brushing fish fillets with olive oil and seasoning them before broiling until just cooked through. Meanwhile, a sauce is prepared by gently sautéing garlic and shallots to soften their aroma, then adding diced tomatoes that break down slightly during cooking. White wine is added to the pan and reduced to concentrate its fruity acidity. Capers are stirred in at the end to infuse briny notes that complement the fish well.

The broiling cooks fish quickly and evenly, resulting in a flaky texture with minimal browning, while the tomato caper sauce provides a fresh, slightly tangy contrast with its mix of sweetness, acidity, and salt. This combination balances mild fish flavor without overpowering it.

Serve the fish immediately topped with the tomato caper sauce. It works well with simple side dishes such as steamed vegetables or rice to keep the meal light and focused on the fish and sauce.
