Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
Description
Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars start with melting butter until browned, which develops a nutty aroma and flavor that enhances the cookie base. This butter is combined with both dark brown and granulated sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract for a balanced sweetness and richness. The dry ingredients include all-purpose flour, kosher salt, baking soda, and baking powder to create a tender yet sturdy structure. Chunks and chips of chocolate give contrasting bursts of melted richness throughout the bars.
The dough is spread evenly in a greased 9x13-inch pan and baked until the edges turn golden brown and the center sets but remains soft. After baking, a finishing sprinkle of flaky sea salt cuts through the sweetness slightly, adding complexity to each bite. The bars are best cooled before slicing so they hold their shape.
This recipe suits situations where you want the classic flavors of chocolate chip cookies but prefer a bar form for easy cutting and serving. The nutty browned butter flavor elevates a familiar treat without complicating the process.
