Brown Butter Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn
Description
This popcorn recipe starts with air-popped kernels to ensure a light, crisp base. Butter is gently melted and browned until it releases a nutty aroma and amber color, bringing a richer flavor than regular melted butter. The browned butter is then drizzled over the popcorn kernels.
A mixture of granulated sugar and ground cinnamon is sprinkled on top, and the popcorn is tossed evenly to coat each piece with the sweet, spiced topping. This combination results in a snack that is both crisp and lightly sweetened with a warm cinnamon flavor.
If an air popper is unavailable, stove-top popping with oil is a suitable alternative. The popcorn is best served soon after preparation to maintain its crispness and the brightness of the browned butter flavor.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 4 tablespoon butter unsalted
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Use an air popper to pop the popcorn. Set the popcorn aside.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. When butter starts to foam, swirl the skillet until butter turns golden brown and develops an amber color and gives off a nutty aroma, about 1-2 minutes. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combined the sugar and cinnamon. Stir until combined.
- Drizzle brown butter over the popcorn and season with cinnamon sugar mixture, tossing occasionally, until all of the popcorn is coated. Serve.
- Note-if you don't have an air popper you can pop the popcorn on the stove with oil.
