Brown Butter Pecan Cake

This Brown Butter Pecan Cake Recipe is like no other cake you have had. This vanilla cake is a rich buttery 3 layer cake that has pecans in the batter and is topped with a cinnamon frosting with more pecans.

Cake ingredients

  • 1 ⅓ C pecans chopped
  • 4 C flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 ½ C butter unsalted
  • 3 C sugar
  • 4 egg large
  • 3 tsp vanilla extract pure
  • 2 C milk whole

Cinnamon Frosting

  • 2 C butter unsalted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract pure
  • 8 C powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 5 tbsp heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Cake Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray 3 9inch round cake pans with pam baking spray
  2. Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  3. Beat in the vanilla until combined
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time until combined. Whisk in the milk until smooth.
  5. Using a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients until combined
  6. Gradually whisk in dry ingredients into the wet.
  7. Fold in the chop pecans
  8. Divide the batter between the three pans
  9. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean
  10. Allow to cool completely

Frosting directions

  1. Beat all ingredients in a standing mixer until combined and smooth
  2. Remove the domes off the cakes
  3. Place 1 cake layer onto a cake board
  4. Scoop 1 C of frosting onto the cake layer and smooth evenly
  5. Place the second cake layer onto the first frosting layer
  6. Scoop 1 C of frosting and smooth evenly
  7. Place last cake layer onto the second layer of frosting
  8. Scoop ½ C of frosting into a large piping bag with a star tip
  9. Frost entire cake with the remaining frosting
  10. Coat the bottom of the cake with the chopped pecans
  11. Pipe dollops of frosting on top of the cake
  12. Sprinkle chopped pecans on top
  13. Cut and enjoy!
