Brown Sugar Substitute
Description
The Brown Sugar Substitute combines 2 1/2 cups of granulated sugar with molasses—two tablespoons for light brown sugar and four tablespoons for dark brown sugar. By mixing these ingredients until fully blended and no longer sticky, the mixture mimics the moisture and depth of flavor associated with commercially sold brown sugar. This allows bakers to create the effect of brown sugar without needing to store it separately.
This substitute works in any recipe calling for light or dark brown sugar, supplying the distinctive caramel notes and slightly moist texture that brown sugar imparts. It can be used immediately after mixing and incorporated into recipes for cookies, sauces, or glazes.
