Buffalo Chicken Sliders

Buffalo Chicken Sliders are made by mixing shredded chicken with buffalo sauce and ranch dressing, layered with mozzarella cheese on soft sweet rolls. The assembled sliders are brushed with garlic parsley butter and baked until the cheese melts and the rolls are toasted. This preparation yields warm, flavorful sliders with a balance of spicy, creamy, and savory elements.

Description

This recipe uses pulled rotisserie chicken tossed in buffalo wing sauce and ranch dressing, combining heat and cooling creaminess. The mixture is spread between sweet Hawaiian rolls layered with mozzarella cheese, which helps retain moisture and contributes a rich, melty texture.

The assembly involves slicing the rolls horizontally without separating them, layering cheese, chicken mixture, and more cheese, then topping with the roll lids. Brushed garlic parsley butter on top adds savory depth and promotes browning during baking in a foil-lined pan, preventing sticking and facilitating cleanup.

These sliders serve well as a party appetizer, game day snack, or casual meal. Freshly grated mozzarella is recommended for better melting and texture. Using refrigerated ranch dressing offers optimal flavor, though any brand suffices. Rotisserie chickens around $5 provide convenient, flavorful shredded chicken.

The recipe suggests buying prepackaged sweet rolls in a 12-pack for convenience and recommends melting butter with garlic and parsley for an even spread over the slider tops.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 cups chicken preferably rotisserie chicken, shredded
  • 3/4 cup buffalo sauce (or hot wing sauce)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • 12 pack sweet rolls King's Hawaiian brand
  • 3 Tablespoons butter melted, salted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or 3 garlic cloves minced)
  • 1 teaspoon parsley

Instructions

  1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9 x 9 or 9 x 13 baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. This is an important step because the cheese will melt and can stick to the foil. Use a long serrated knife to slice the rolls in half, lengthwise. Don't pull the rolls apart or individually slice them because you want the rolls to be completely connected. Place the bottom side of the rolls in the pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, and ranch dressing.Layer half of the cheese on the bottom of the rolls. This helps to keep the rolls from getting soggy.
  3. Add buffalo chicken on top of the cheese. Sprinkle the remaining cheese all over the top of the buffalo chicken.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Stir in garlic and parsley and mix together.Place the top half of the rolls on top of the buffalo chicken. Brush the butter mixture all over the rolls. Evenly spread it over the top and allow some of the butter mixture to drip to the base of the rolls.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake covered for about 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted. Uncover the foil and bake for 3 to 5 minutes longer. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for convenience, flavor, and moisture; large birds offer value for the price.
  • King's Hawaiian sweet rolls in a 12-pack are preferred for their soft texture and suitable size.
  • Freshly grate mozzarella cheese instead of using pre-shredded for better melting and texture.
  • Refrigerated ranch dressing is recommended for flavor quality, but use any brand as needed.
