Butter Cookies
Description
This Butter Cookies recipe uses softened unsalted butter creamed with sugar and vanilla extract, providing a rich and sweet base. Adding an egg binds the dough, while flour and salt balance texture and flavor. The dough can be portioned with a cookie press for patterned shapes or scooped into small balls pressed flat. Baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, the cookies develop slight browning around the edges without overcooking, preserving a tender interior. The result is a classic shortbread-like cookie with gentle vanilla aroma suitable for serving with tea or coffee.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter softened, unsalted
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/8 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and in a stand mixer cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add in the egg, then the vanilla until well incorporated before adding in the flour and salt until just combined.
- Put into a cookie press or form balls pressed slightly flat with the bottom of a glass before baking for 8-10 minutes.
Notes
