Buttered Noodles with Parmesan

Buttered Noodles with Parmesan is a straightforward pasta dish featuring egg noodles cooked with salt, then tossed with butter, Parmesan cheese, and fresh parsley, finished with cracked black pepper. The result is a simple, comforting side or light meal combining creamy and savory notes.

Description

This recipe starts with boiling salted water for cooking egg noodles until just tender. After draining, a portion of the pasta cooking water is reserved to adjust the final dish's texture. The noodles are returned to the pot where unsalted butter and freshly grated Parmesan cheese are stirred in to melt and coat all strands.

Parsley or Italian seasoning adds a fresh herbal touch while freshly ground black pepper contributes mild heat and aromatic complexity. The reserved pasta water helps create a light sauce that binds ingredients without heaviness.

The dish serves as a versatile complement to a variety of main courses or can be enjoyed simply on its own. Its basic composition allows for easy adaptations like gluten-free or dairy-free substitutions by exchanging noodles and dairy ingredients accordingly.
