Cake Batter Puppy Chow Recipe

Cake Batter Puppy Chow is a sweet snack made by coating rice Chex cereal with yellow cake mix, white melting chocolate, rainbow sprinkles, and powdered sugar. Baking the dry cake mix beforehand ensures safety by eliminating raw flour. The cereal pieces are evenly coated with melted white chocolate before being tossed with the coated dry mix and sprinkles, resulting in a crunchy, colorful treat.

Description

This recipe begins by baking yellow cake mix to 160°F to remove any risk from raw flour. Once cooled, rice Chex cereal is combined with melted white chocolate, then stirred with the baked cake mix, powdered sugar, and rainbow sprinkles. This layering creates a sweet, crunchy coating that clings to each cereal piece. The white chocolate cools slightly before adding sprinkles to avoid melting them.

This snack offers a playful, cake-flavored twist on traditional puppy chow, with contrasting textures from crunchy cereal and smooth chocolate. It’s easy to prepare and serves well as a party treat or casual snack.

Storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator keeps the mixture fresh up to two weeks. Variations with different chocolates or sprinkle types offer customization.
