Calabrian Chili Garlic Bread
Description
This recipe uses a grocery-store sized French bread loaf sliced length-wise to create two halves that become the base for the chili garlic butter. The butter is softened and mixed with crushed Calabrian chili peppers, sea salt, minced or powdered garlic, and chopped fresh parsley. This compound butter is spread generously over the bread's cut sides.
Baking at 425°F crisps the buttered bread surface to a golden finish while melting the butter mixture and infusing the bread with bold, spicy, and aromatic flavors. Optionally broiling for a brief period can intensify the browning and crispiness.
The finished bread can be sliced and served warm as an appetizer, side dish, or accompaniment to meals craving a spicy garlic touch. The balance of buttery richness, chili heat, fresh herbal notes, and garlic makes this bread distinctive.
