Candy Cane Hearts
Description
This recipe assembles miniature candy canes into heart shapes by connecting their curved ends together on parchment paper. Dark chocolate candy melts (or chopped almond bark) are melted carefully in intervals until smooth and used to adhere the candy canes at the meeting points and decorate the heart shapes. Before the chocolate sets, holiday-themed sprinkles are added for a festive visual touch.
The final hearts combine the crisp peppermint flavor of candy canes with subtle bitterness and sweetness from dark chocolate. Texture contrasts with the hard candy canes complementing the smooth chocolate touch on top. The simplicity of assembly requires no baking and minimal ingredients, making it quick to prepare during the holiday season.
These treats are suited to serving as small candy gifts, table decorations, or just for festive snacking. They also allow for creativity in decoration with various sprinkle colors or different chocolate types if desired.
