Caprese Salad with Cherry Tomatoes
Description
This Caprese Salad uses sweet cherry tomatoes partly halved to release juices, combined with marinated bocconcini or ciliegine mozzarella balls. Fresh basil leaves torn over the top impart an aromatic herbal flavor. Seasonings of kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper enhance the natural tastes of the ingredients.
A drizzle of balsamic glaze or reduction adds a sweet-tart accent that pairs well with the creamy cheese and fresh tomatoes. The salad is served at room temperature, which helps the flavors meld. Preparation is straightforward, requiring minimal cutting and gentle tossing to combine flavors without breaking the delicate cheese.
This salad can serve as a light appetizer or side that highlights summer produce and simple ingredients. Its colors and textures make it visually appealing and pleasant to the palate.
