Caramel Apple Board
Description
This recipe starts by coring and slicing multiple apples, removing seeds as needed. Dipping the apple slices in Sprite helps reduce oxidation and keep them visually appealing for serving. Bowls and containers hold various small candies and toppings, arranged on a serving tray or board alongside the apple slices.
White and milk chocolates are melted until smooth either in the microwave or double boiler, then provided warm on the board along with a container of old-fashioned caramel candy melted for dipping. This creates a selection of sweet sauces to complement the crisp, tart apples.
The concept encourages guests to dip apple slices themselves into caramel or chocolate and then into desired toppings such as mini candies, nuts, cookie crumbs, or cereal. This interactive presentation suits parties or casual gatherings where guests can customize their bites. Pre-poking apple slices with sticks is suggested if serving to children to ease handling.
Leftover apples can be stored in the refrigerator up to three days, and unused chocolates can be wrapped and reheated when needed. Variation of toppings allows flexibility depending on preference and occasion.
