Caramel Apple Bread
Description
Caramel Apple Bread combines basic quick bread ingredients including brown sugar, oil, eggs, flour, and spices like apple pie spice, with diced tart Granny Smith apples and pecans folded into the batter. The mixture is baked in a loaf pan at 350°F until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. After cooling, a warm caramel glaze made from butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and powdered sugar is poured and spread over the top, creating a glossy, rich finish that enhances the apple flavor.
The bread offers a tender crumb with pockets of juicy apple and crunchy nuts, balanced by moderate sweetness and warm spices. It can be served sliced for breakfast, brunch, or as a dessert. The combination of apple and pecans provides texture and flavor contrast.
A substitution note suggests up to one-third cup of applesauce can replace the same amount of vegetable oil, offering a variation in moisture and fat content.
