Caramel Apple Bread Pudding

Caramel Apple Bread Pudding uses diced French bread soaked in a custard of milk, cream, eggs, sugar, and warm spices, layered with apple pie filling, then baked until golden. It is topped with a homemade caramel sauce made from butter, cream, brown sugar, and vanilla, adding a rich sweetness that complements the tender, spiced pudding. This dessert is comforting and ideal for serving with or without ice cream.

Description

This dessert combines cubed French bread soaked thoroughly in a seasoned custard featuring cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. The custard mixture ensures the bread absorbs moisture and flavor while baking. Apple pie filling adds fruity sweetness and texture between layers. Covered while baking initially to allow custard setting, then uncovered to develop a golden top.

The caramel sauce, prepared separately by gently heating butter, cream, and brown sugar then flavored with vanilla, is poured over the pudding before serving. It adds a creamy, sweet finish that balances the tartness of the apple and warm spices. The pudding can be sliced and served warm, optionally accompanied by ice cream.

The recipe provides estimated nutritional details and suggests cutting the dish into 12 portions. The method is straightforward, making it suitable for an indulgent snack or dessert especially during cooler months.
