Caramel Apple Cobbler Cake
Description
Caramel Apple Cobbler Cake starts with a batter mixing unsweetened applesauce, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and apple pie spice. The applesauce adds moisture and subtle apple flavor, while the apple pie spice and cinnamon provide warm spicing throughout the cake.
This batter is poured into a baking dish and topped evenly with a sugary cinnamon topping made from granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Apple cider and water are carefully poured over this topping without stirring, allowing it to soak and form a syrupy layer during baking.
The cake bakes until set, resulting in a moist, tender cake base beneath a soft, spiced, caramel-like topping that resembles a cobbler. Toasted pecans can be added before serving for extra texture and nutty flavor.
This dessert pairs well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Using any type of milk or nondairy alternative is possible, and adjusting spice levels allows tailoring the warm flavors. The layering of wet topping ingredients creates moistness without a soggy texture.
