Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Crescent Ring
Description
The recipe starts with tubes of crescent roll dough arranged so the wide ends overlap in a circle to form a starburst shape, creating a ring that holds the filling securely. The apple pie filling and caramel sauce are spooned over the overlapping dough, providing a sweet, fruity base with a caramel accent.
A smooth mixture of softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract is dolloped over the fruit and caramel, adding a creamy element that contrasts with the sweet apple filling. Folding the pointed dough ends over the filling and tucking them under the center seals the ring, leaving some filling visible for a rustic appearance.
Baked at 350°F for 20 to 22 minutes, the crescent rolls turn golden brown and the cream cheese mixture melts slightly. Cooling before drizzling with a simple glaze of powdered sugar and milk adds a touch of sweetness and a glossy finish. This ring slices nicely for serving as a festive breakfast, dessert, or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 tubes crescent rolls 8 rolls per tube
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 21 ounces apple pie filling (I used a 21 oz can)
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Open the tubes of crescent roll dough and separate the triangles. Place the dough triangles in a circle on a large baking sheet or pizza pan with the wide ends of the dough overlapping and the narrow ends pointing outward to form a starburst shape.
- Spoon the apple pie filling onto the overlapping crescent roll dough circle. Drizzle the pie filling with the caramel sauce.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract together until smooth. Scoop the mixture over the caramel and apple pie filling.
- Bring the points of the dough up over the filling and tuck under the dough in the center of the circle. Some of the filling will still be visible between the dough.
- Bake the crescent ring at 350F for 20-22 minutes until golden brown. Cool to room temperature.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle the frosting over the cooled crescent ring. Slice and serve.
