Caramel Apple Crumble
Description
This Caramel Apple Crumble starts with sliced Granny Smith apples tossed in lemon juice and gently cooked in butter with a pinch of salt to draw out moisture. After removing excess liquid, the apples are mixed with a sea salt caramel sauce made by melting sugar to amber, whisking in cream, butter, salt, and vanilla for richness. The apples are topped with a crumble made from flour, brown and granulated sugars, butter, and salt, which bakes to a golden crispy topping.
The dessert offers a balance between tart and sweet from the apples and caramel, complemented by the buttery, crunchy crumble texture. Baking melds these components, making the filling soft and the topping crisp and slightly caramelized.
Serve warm with extra caramel sauce poured over the top, which boosts the richness and adds a smooth finish. This dessert is satisfying as a seasonal treat, ideal during cooler months when apples are abundant.
