Caramel Apples
Description
The recipe begins by thoroughly washing wax-free apples and drying them before inserting sticks to hold them easily. Caramel candy is melted with cream to create a smooth coating which is evenly applied to each apple. After chilling to firm the caramel, the apples are dipped halfway into melted chocolate or candy melts and then rolled in toppings like chopped nuts or candies for additional flavor and crunch.
The layering of flavors creates a satisfying contrast—the tart crispness of Granny Smith apples, the rich sweetness of caramel, and the creamy finish of chocolate with textural crunchy toppings. The caramel layer forms a sticky but firm shell that clings to the apple, while the chocolate topping adds visual appeal and an extra indulgence.
These treats can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to one week. If the caramel hardens too much during preparation, reheating in short intervals restores its dipping consistency.
