Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies

These caramel chocolate chip cookies mix classic cookie dough with both semi-sweet chocolate chips and caramel chips for pockets of melt-in-your-mouth sweetness. The dough is creamed with both granulated and brown sugar to add moisture and depth, while baking produces cookies with a slightly crisp edge and soft, chewy center. They bake in about 10–12 minutes resulting in a balanced sweet and rich flavor ideal for dessert or snacking.

Description

Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies begin by creaming softened unsalted butter with white granulated and packed brown sugar until light and creamy. Eggs and vanilla extract are added to the base for moisture and flavor. Dry ingredients including baking soda, salt, and all-purpose flour are sifted and mixed incrementally into the wet mixture to form a sturdy but tender dough. Semi-sweet chocolate chips and caramel chips are folded in, dispersing meltable pockets throughout the cookies. The cookies are dropped by rounded tablespoons spaced apart on parchment-lined baking sheets and baked at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly golden around the edges. After baking, the cookies are cooled slightly on the pan to firm up, producing a chewy, rich cookie with contrasting chocolate and caramel sweetness. These treats suit casual eating or sharing at gatherings.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar granulated white
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 egg large
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • 3/4 cup caramel chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line baking sheets with parchment paper and then set aside.
  2. Add butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract to a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat over medium speed until nice and creamy, about 1 minute.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, sift together the baking soda, salt, and flour. Gradually add the dry ingredients to butter/sugar mixture, beating over low speed. Scrape the bowl then beat over medium speed for another 30 seconds until well-combined.
  4. Add chocolate chips and caramel chips to the dough and then stir to combine. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, about 2-3 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes (mine are ready at 10 minutes), then remove from oven and allow cookies to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy!
