Caramel Pecan Slab Pie

Caramel Pecan Slab Pie features a rolled dough crust topped with a blend of melted butter, sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla, chopped pecans, and caramel baking chips. Baked until golden and set, it is served with caramel topping and whipped cream. The pie is prepared in a rimmed cookie sheet for a large rectangular dessert with rich, nutty flavors and a tender crust.

Description

The Caramel Pecan Slab Pie begins with a pre-made dough puck rolled into a rectangular shape to fit a 9x13 inch rimmed cookie sheet, forming the base crust. A filling made from melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, eggs, and vanilla extract is mixed together, then folded with chopped pecans and caramel baking chips for flavor and texture.

After pouring the filling over the crust and spreading it evenly, the pie is baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25-30 minutes until the top turns golden brown and the filling is set. The finished pie combines the buttery crust with the sweet, nutty filling that features caramel notes from the chips and pecans, offering a rich dessert experience.

The slab pie is sliced and served with additional caramel topping drizzled over and whipped cream dolloped on the side, complementing the pie’s sweetness and adding creamy contrast. The size makes it suitable for gatherings or serving multiple guests.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 dough puck thawed, frozen, from the Texas Pie Company
  • 1 1/2 butter melted, unsalted, sticks
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar white
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour Texas Pure brand
  • 3 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 1 cup caramel baking chips

Topping:

  • caramel topping
  • Whipped Cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 inch rimmed cookie sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Place the thawed dough puck on a large piece of wax paper. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a large rectangle shape to fit the cookie sheet that you prepared in step 1. Separate the dough from the wax paper and press into the bottom and along the sides of the cookie sheet, cutting off any excess dough and using it to fill in any gaps.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, mix the melted butter with the sugar and flour. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract and stir until everything is well combined. Fold in the chopped pecans and caramel chips.
  4. Pour the pecan mixture on top of the crust, spreading evenly with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel topping. Enjoy!
