Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Caramel Rice Krispie Treats are made by cooking butter, dark brown sugar, and honey into a caramel sauce, then mixing it thoroughly with Rice Krispie cereal. The caramel coats the cereal, binding it together as it cools into squares or molded shapes with a chewy, sweet texture. These treats combine the crunch of cereal with rich caramel flavor.

Description

This recipe begins by melting butter, dark brown sugar, and honey together in a saucepan over medium heat. The mixture is brought to a boil and cooked for 5 minutes while stirring to form a thick caramel syrup. Once ready, the hot caramel is quickly mixed into rice krispie cereal until evenly coated.

The mixture is then pressed into a pan or shaped into small domes and left to cool completely. Cooling allows the caramel to solidify and bind the cereal pieces, creating a chewy yet crunchy texture. Cutting into squares or serving as shaped portions offers easy snacking.

Caramel Rice Krispie Treats are a sweet treat combining the familiar crunch of puffed rice with a caramelized sweetness from the rich syrup. The use of dark brown sugar and honey adds depth to the caramel flavor, setting it apart from simpler marshmallow versions.
