Caramel Spice Poke Cake

A moist spice cake enhanced with pockets of sweetened condensed milk and topped with a whipped cream frosting swirled with caramel sauce offers a creamy texture and caramel sweetness. Chopped nuts add a crunchy contrast to the soft cake and creamy topping, creating a layered dessert experience.

Description

The Caramel Spice Poke Cake uses a boxed spice cake that is baked and then punctured with holes to allow sweetened condensed milk to seep deep into the crumb, increasing moisture and sweetness throughout. After cooling, a whipped cream topping is prepared by beating heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. This topping is spread evenly over the cake.

Caramel sauce is poured on top and gently swirled into the whipped cream for a marbled effect, adding rich caramel flavor and visual appeal. Chopped walnuts or pecans sprinkled on the top contribute a crunchy texture that contrasts with the soft cake and the smooth cream.

This dessert is best served shortly after assembly or kept refrigerated due to the whipped cream topping's perishability. It combines warm spice notes with creamy and nutty elements, making it suitable for special occasions or gatherings.
