Chai Spiced Apple Crisp
Description
This recipe uses peeled, cored, and sliced apples coated in a mix of granulated and dark brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, chai tea concentrate, and vanilla to infuse the fruit with warmth and sweetness. The chai concentrate adds a subtle spiced tea flavor that complements the cinnamon. The topping is a crunchy mixture of oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and melted butter, crumbled generously over the apples before baking. Baking at 350°F softens the apples while crisping the topping to a golden brown.
The dessert is best enjoyed after a short resting period to allow the sauce to thicken. It can be served on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added creaminess. The chai spice lends a unique twist on traditional apple crisp, making it suitable for fall gatherings or cozy evenings.
For even cooking, slice apples evenly and keep them in water until ready to prepare. If your oven runs hot, shielding the crisp with foil during baking can prevent burning. The recipe is flexible for make-ahead preparation by tossing the apples with a bit of lemon juice to prevent browning and adding topping just before baking.

- Prepare ahead by tossing apples with lemon juice and adding topping just before baking for best freshness.
