Cheater Restaurant Style Refried Beans

This Cheater Restaurant Style Refried Beans recipe uses canned refried beans combined with sour cream and hot sauce, baked until bubbling hot, and optionally topped with melted Monterey Jack cheese. The result is a creamy, tangy, and mildly spicy bean dish that pairs well with tortilla chips or as a side with Mexican meals.

Description

This recipe simplifies traditional refried beans by enhancing canned refried beans with sour cream and hot sauce to create a creamy and flavorful base. Baking the mixture in an oven-safe dish until hot and bubbly helps meld the flavors and provides a warm texture. Optionally, Monterey Jack cheese can be added on top during a brief additional baking step for a melted cheesy finish.

The beans develop a rich and slightly tangy flavor profile balanced by the heat from the hot sauce. The creamy texture from the sour cream softens the beans, making them ideal for dipping or accompanying Mexican dishes.

These beans serve as a convenient side dish or appetizer when paired with tortilla chips. They also complement dishes like tacos, enchiladas, or Mexican rice, creating a well-rounded meal component.

For a smoother consistency, an immersion blender or potato masher can be used before baking. The dish can be kept warm in a crock-pot or reheated gently in the Instant Pot. Garnishes such as diced onion, cilantro, or shredded cheddar cheese can be added to vary presentation and taste.
