Cheerio Bars
Description
This recipe involves melting butter and miniature marshmallows together until a smooth, sticky mixture forms. Cheerios cereal, either plain or multigrain, is then added and thoroughly mixed to coat each piece. The mixture is promptly pressed into a greased or lined 9x13 pan to set.
Once cooled completely, the mixture firms up into a bar with a chewy texture from the marshmallows and crunch from the cereal. The bars deliver a sweet, lightly buttery flavor without requiring baking. Using parchment or wax paper in the pan makes for easier removal and clean slicing.
These bars are convenient for snack times, lunch boxes, or casual gatherings. They also allow flexibility in cereal choice and do not require long preparation.
Lining the pan with parchment or wax paper helps lift the bars out easily for cutting and serving.
