Cheesecake Brownies

Homemade double chocolate brownies with a cream cheese cheesecake swirl.

Ingredients

Chocolate Brownies:

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cake flour (may substitute all-purpose flour)
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream Cheese Cheesecake Filling:

  • (2) ounce cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

To make Brownies:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar for 3-4 minutes or until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla.
  2. Stir in flour, cake flour, cocoa, and salt until mixed together. Fold in chocolate chips. 
  3. Spread brownie batter into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Set aside.

Cream Cheese Cheesecake Swirl:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whip softened cream cheese for 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy. Add sugar and beat for 3 minutes longer. Add egg and vanilla and beat until completely mixed together. 
  2. Drop cream cheese mixture, by the spoonful, onto the batter in the pan.  Using a sharp knife, make a swirl pattern with the cream cheese swirl. 
  3. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for at least 1 hour to set up.
