Cheesy Garlic Meatball Bombs
Description
This recipe uses refrigerated pizza dough pressed into a muffin tin to form small cups that bake briefly to a light crisp. Each cup is seasoned with a garlic-onion-black pepper mix and then filled with one cooked meatball, marinara sauce, and shredded mozzarella. A short second baking melts the cheese and crisps the edges of the dough. Parmesan cheese and fresh minced parsley add finishing touches. The texture combines tender meatballs with chewy, golden dough and gooey cheese, accented by the tomato sauce. These bursts of savory flavor make a convenient finger food or accompaniment to salads and soups.
Ingredients
- 12 meatballs , cooked and thawed if using frozen
- 13.8 ounces pizza dough refrigerated
- 2 tablespoons butter melted, salted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper ground
- 3/4 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese shredded, low moisture
- Parmesan Cheese , for garnish
- parsley , minced, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Coat a 12 well muffin tin with cooking spray or rub with vegetable shortening.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a work surface and cut into 12 equal squares. Press each square into the muffin tin. Bake for 6-7 minutes.
- Meanwhile, whisk together the garlic powder, onion powder and ground black pepper. Baste over each piece of par-baked pizza dough.
- Place one cooked meatball in each muffin well. Evenly divide with the marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Heat for an additional 5-6 minutes or until cheese has melted and edges of the bread are golden brown.
- Remove and garnish with Parmesan cheese and minced parsley, if desired.
