Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread Recipe
Description
The Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread Recipe transforms a simple Italian loaf by scoring it into deep squares filled with a mixture of Monterey Jack, Parmesan, Romano cheeses, and crushed garlic. This combination provides a rich, savory flavor with aromatic garlic. Coated in a melted butter blend seasoned with Dijon mustard and homemade Italian seasoning, the bread absorbs these flavors as it bakes wrapped in foil, ensuring the cheese melts thoroughly while keeping the loaf moist. Removing the foil top in the last minutes of baking crisps the cheese-topped bread squares to a golden finish.
The bread's texture balances softness inside with a golden, crispy top layer of browned cheese and seasoned butter. It’s a great starter or accompaniment to soups and salads. Sharing is easy since the loaf separates into cheesy pull-apart pieces.
To get the best results, score the bread deeply but not all the way through. Evenly distribute the cheese mixture in the crevices to ensure every piece is flavorful. Baking in foil helps melt the cheese evenly while crisping just the top at the end creates a satisfying bite. Allow the loaf to cool slightly before serving to let the cheese set a bit.
Ingredients
- 1 large , round loaf Italian bread
- 1 cup Monterey jack cheese , shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup Romano cheese shredded
- 3 garlic crushed for finely minced, cloves
- 1/2 cup butter melted, unsalted
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning homemade
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt coarse
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Score the bread loaf crosswise and lengthwise into 1 inch squares, cutting almost through to the bottom, but leaving it intact. Place the loaf on an oversized piece of aluminum foil (enough to wrap around the whole loaf).
- In a small bowl, combine the cheeses and garlic, mix. Stuff the cheese blend evenly into all of the slits, nooks and crannies.
- In another small bowl combine the melted butter, mustard, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Spoon or pour mixture evenly over stuffed cheese slits.
- Wrap entire bread loaf in heavy duty aluminum foil and place in the oven for 15 minutes. Remove loaf and open the top of the aluminum foil to expose the top of the bread. Bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and tops are nicely brown and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and cool for several minutes before serving.
