Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread Recipe

This Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread Recipe features a round Italian loaf stuffed with a blend of Monterey Jack, Parmesan, and Romano cheeses mixed with crushed garlic. The bread is sliced into squares without cutting through the bottom, allowing the cheese to melt inside each slit. A seasoned butter mixture with Dijon mustard and Italian herbs is poured over the top before baking. The result is soft bread with pockets of melted cheese and crispy, browned edges, ideal for sharing as a snack or side.

Description

The Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread Recipe transforms a simple Italian loaf by scoring it into deep squares filled with a mixture of Monterey Jack, Parmesan, Romano cheeses, and crushed garlic. This combination provides a rich, savory flavor with aromatic garlic. Coated in a melted butter blend seasoned with Dijon mustard and homemade Italian seasoning, the bread absorbs these flavors as it bakes wrapped in foil, ensuring the cheese melts thoroughly while keeping the loaf moist. Removing the foil top in the last minutes of baking crisps the cheese-topped bread squares to a golden finish.

The bread's texture balances softness inside with a golden, crispy top layer of browned cheese and seasoned butter. It’s a great starter or accompaniment to soups and salads. Sharing is easy since the loaf separates into cheesy pull-apart pieces.

To get the best results, score the bread deeply but not all the way through. Evenly distribute the cheese mixture in the crevices to ensure every piece is flavorful. Baking in foil helps melt the cheese evenly while crisping just the top at the end creates a satisfying bite. Allow the loaf to cool slightly before serving to let the cheese set a bit.

  • 1/2 cup Romano cheese shredded
  • 3 garlic crushed for finely minced, cloves
  • 1/2 cup butter melted, unsalted
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt coarse

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

  4. In another small bowl combine the melted butter, mustard, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Spoon or pour mixture evenly over stuffed cheese slits.
  5. Wrap entire bread loaf in heavy duty aluminum foil and place in the oven for 15 minutes. Remove loaf and open the top of the aluminum foil to expose the top of the bread. Bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and tops are nicely brown and crisp.
