Cherry Chunk Cookies

Cherry Chunk Cookies mix dried cherries and dark chocolate chunks into a classic sweet cookie dough, resulting in a treat that balances chewy and slightly crunchy textures. The addition of almond extract adds a subtle nutty aroma that complements the fruit and chocolate. These cookies are baked until lightly golden, creating a soft yet firm bite, ideal for a snack or dessert.

Description

Cherry Chunk Cookies bring together softened butter, both brown and white sugars, and almond extract whisked with an egg to form a rich base. Flour, baking soda, and salt are sifted and incorporated carefully to provide structure. Dark chocolate chunks and chopped dried cherries are folded in, lending texture and bursts of sweetness and tartness throughout the dough. Shaped into small balls and baked at 350°F, the cookies develop a delicate golden exterior while remaining tender inside. The almond extract adds a subtle depth that enhances the fruity and chocolate flavors without overpowering them.

The cookies can be served as a simple treat with tea or coffee, or packed for lunches. Their balance of sweet and tart notes makes them pleasant for those who appreciate fruit and chocolate combinations. They maintain their shape and texture well, making them practical for various occasions.
