Cherry Cobbler

Cherry Cobbler combines tart cherries with a sweet batter baked over melted butter, creating a dessert with a tender crumb and juicy fruit topping. The batter includes sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, producing a mildly spiced, soft cake-like layer over a rich buttery base. This cobbler offers a warm, comforting dessert that balances sweet and tart flavors.

Description

The Cherry Cobbler begins with melting butter in a baking dish, providing a rich foundation. Fresh or frozen pitted cherries are tossed in part of the sugar, then layered on top of a batter made from sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. The batter is poured over the melted butter without stirring, then topped with the sugared cherries.

Baking the dish at 350°F for 45 to 50 minutes allows the batter to set into a light cake that soaks some cherry juices, merging tartness with sugary sweetness. The cinnamon adds a subtle warm note that complements the fruit and buttery base.

Once baked, the cobbler can be enjoyed warm or chilled. It pairs well with cream or ice cream and makes for a satisfying dessert that can be prepared ahead of time.

For storage, the cobbler can be kept covered in the refrigerator up to four days and reheated as needed. If freezing, wait until fully cooled, then wrap portions tightly for up to one month, preserving flavor and texture.
