Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

These chewy chocolate chip oatmeal cookies combine the hearty texture of rolled oats with sweet chocolate chips and warm cinnamon in a butter-based dough. The dough is chilled before baking, helping achieve a soft, chewy cookie with lightly crisp edges. They make a classic treat with a balanced sweetness and satisfying texture.

Description

The Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies bring together butter, brown and white sugars, eggs, vanilla, flour, oats, cinnamon, baking powder, and chocolate chips into a dough chilled before baking. This step firms the dough, which helps control spread and texture.

During baking at 375°F, the cookies develop lightly crisp edges while maintaining a soft, chewy center with chocolate melting into the warm dough. The oats add a slight chew and subtle texture contrast, while cinnamon adds gentle warmth to the flavor.

These cookies are well suited for a sweet snack or dessert, enjoyed fresh or stored for a few days. Adding a tablespoon or two of milk during mixing can rescue crumbly dough to achieve the right consistency.
