Chicken Caesar Wrap
Description
The recipe begins by seasoning chicken breasts with salt and freshly cracked black pepper before coating them in flour, beaten eggs, and seasoned Italian-style breadcrumbs. Pan-frying the chicken imparts a crisp golden crust while maintaining tender interior meat. After resting, the chicken is ready to accompany the creamy sauce in the wraps.
The Caesar dressing combines anchovy paste, garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Parmesan cheese folded into mayonnaise. This creates a rich, umami-laden dressing that clings well to the chicken and lettuce. Chopped romaine adds refreshing crunch and contrast.
Assembling the wraps involves spreading Caesar dressing on tortillas, adding lettuce and sliced chicken. The result is a flavorful sandwich-like wrap that can serve as a lunch or light dinner. The breaded chicken and sharp Caesar dressing create a balanced combination of textures and flavors.
Ingredients
For the Chicken
- 1 lb chicken breast thinly sliced, boneless
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper freshly cracked
- 2 egg beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs Italian style
- 1 cup flour
For the Ceaser Dressing
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese shredded
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsps anchovy paste
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- romaine lettuce 2 heads
- cooking oil for frying chicken
- tortilla 4 large 12 inch
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Place the flour in a shallow dish, beat the eggs in another shallow dish, and place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
- Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs, pressing the breadcrumbs to adhere to the chicken.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and fry for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- After cooking the chicken in the pan, remove it and let it rest for a few minutes. During this time, make the Caesar dressing by whisking together garlic, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and anchovy paste. Then, mix in mayonnaise, and finally, add Parmesan cheese. Add salt and pepper according to your taste.
- To assemble the wraps, place a tortilla on a flat surface and spread a generous amount of Caesar dressing on it. Add a handful of chopped romaine lettuce to the tortilla, followed by some of the sliced chicken and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Roll the tortilla tightly around the filling, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Sear the wraps on high heat for 1 minute on each side. Slice and serve.
