Chicken Chow Mein

Chicken Chow Mein combines tender stir-fried chicken slices with crisp-tender mixed vegetables and chow mein noodles tossed in a savory sauce of oyster sauce, soy, garlic, and ginger. The dish balances soft noodles, crunchy vegetables, and flavorful chicken in a saucy stir-fry that cooks quickly over high heat.

Description

Chicken Chow Mein starts with marinating sliced chicken breast with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil, then stir-frying it until just cooked. Separately, chow mein noodles are cooked and combined with a sauce made from chicken stock, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch to thicken.

The vegetables include green and red cabbage, yellow onion, carrots, bean sprouts, and green onions, which are stir-fried briefly to maintain some crispness. The cooked noodles, sauce, and vegetables are combined in a hot wok, ensuring the sauce coats all components evenly and thickens slightly. Finally, the chicken is returned to the wok, bringing the textures and flavors together.

This dish is served hot, offering a contrast of textures from the tender chicken and noodles to the slightly crunchy vegetables and a balanced savory sauce with aromatic garlic and ginger.
