Chicken Divan

Chicken Divan combines cooked chicken and tender broccoli in a creamy sauce made with cream of chicken soup and sour cream, topped with cheddar cheese and a buttery breadcrumb crust. Baking yields a hot, bubbly casserole with contrasting textures from the soft filling and crisp topping.

Description

This Chicken Divan recipe uses cooked cubed chicken and lightly cooked broccoli mixed with a sauce of condensed cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, and shredded cheddar cheese. Seasoned with salt and pepper, the mixture is placed in a casserole dish and topped with additional cheese and a breadcrumb and butter mixture for texture.

Baked at a high temperature (450°F) for 20 minutes, it forms a bubbly, cheesy dish where the broccoli remains tender-crisp and the chicken moist. The buttery breadcrumb topping adds a crunchy contrast to the creamy inside.

It's an approachable casserole that can be served as a comforting main meal. Leftovers store well refrigerated and reheat effectively in a microwave or oven to maintain texture.
