Chicken Lazone

Chicken Lazone is a creamy pasta dish featuring tender strips of chicken breast cooked with a seasoning blend including garlic powder and Italian seasoning. The chicken is browned in butter before simmering in a heavy cream sauce, then served over spaghetti or linguini and garnished with fresh parsley. The sauce has a rich, smooth texture balanced by the warm spices, making it a satisfying meal for cooler days or when comfort food is desired.

Description

Chicken Lazone combines seasoned chicken breast strips with a creamy, butter-enriched sauce served over pasta. The chicken is seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, white pepper, and salt, then browned in butter to develop a flavorful crust. Heavy cream is added and simmered until the sauce thickens, coating the pasta in a rich, smooth layer. Fresh parsley adds a touch of color and freshness.

The dish has a velvety texture from the cream and butter, with the seasoning providing mild aromatic warmth. The pasta, typically spaghetti or linguini, offers a familiar base that holds the sauce well. Cooking the chicken evenly ensures it stays juicy, while the sauce's simmering time enables the flavors to marry.

Serve this over your choice of pasta, pairing well with a simple green salad for contrast. The richness of the sauce makes it a main dish that stands on its own.

To adjust the sauce thickness, you can add reserved pasta water or more cream. Substituting half the heavy cream with evaporated milk or half-and-half will lighten the sauce without losing creaminess. The spices are layered during cooking to build flavor, and cooking the chicken strips evenly helps maintain juiciness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon white pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1 pound chicken breast boneless and skinless, cut into long strips
  • 4 tablespoon butter unsalted, divided
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 12 ounce spaghetti or linguini
  • 1 tablespoon parsley chopped, fresh

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl combine together the garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, white pepper, and salt.
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces, season with half the spice mixture and cook until brown, about 3 minutes. Flip the chicken over, season with remaining spices and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, until it starts to brown.
  4. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, the 2 cups of heavy cream, scrape the bottom of the pan a bit then and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to low and simmer until the sauce thickens a bit, 7 to 8 minutes.
  5. Serve over cooked pasta, garnished with parsley.

Notes

  • Slice chicken into even strips to cook evenly and stay juicy.
  • Season chicken in two stages, before and after flipping, to enhance flavor depth.
  • If sauce becomes too thick, loosen with a splash of reserved pasta water or extra cream.
  • To reduce richness, substitute half the heavy cream with evaporated milk or half-and-half.
  • Spaghetti or linguini work best as pasta, but fettuccine, penne, or zucchini noodles are good alternatives.
  • Reheat gently over low heat, adding a splash of milk or cream to refresh the sauce.
  • If white pepper is unavailable, regular black pepper can be used instead.
