Chicken Lettuce Wrap Recipe
Description
This recipe prepares ground chicken sautéed with a trio of aromatics: onion, mushrooms, and garlic, providing depth of flavor and umami. The seasoned filling is enhanced with a blend of Asian-inspired sauces including hoisin, soy, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and fresh ginger, along with optional heat from sriracha or sambal oelek. The mixture is cooked until browned and combined thoroughly, then finished by folding in diced water chestnuts for textural contrast and sliced green onions for freshness.
The filling is served spooned into crisp, fresh butter lettuce leaves, making a light, hand-held dish combining savory, slightly sweet, and tangy flavors with the crunch of lettuce. They are often complemented by crunchy accompaniments like carrots, toasted nuts, or crispy rice noodles to add further texture.
Leftover filling can be refrigerated or frozen and reheated in a skillet with added moisture if it dries out. These wraps offer a flavorful, customizable option suitable for lunch or light dinner.
