Chicken Lo Mein Recipe

This Chicken Lo Mein features tender strips of chicken sautéed with a combination of snow peas, shredded carrots, bell peppers, and mushrooms, all mixed with cooked lo mein noodles in a savory sauce of soy, oyster, and sesame oil. The stir-fry method creates tender-crisp vegetables and chicken coated in flavorful sauce. Topped with green onions, it serves as a hearty, balanced noodle dish.

Description

The Chicken Lo Mein recipe starts by whisking together soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil to form a savory sauce. Lo mein noodles are cooked according to package instructions and set aside. Chicken breast strips are seasoned and pan-seared until browned and cooked through, then removed from the pan.

A second stage sauté softens onions and almost softens the mixed vegetables—snow peas, shredded carrots, sliced red bell pepper, and mushrooms—followed by garlic to enhance the aroma. The cooked noodles, chicken, and sauce are then combined in the skillet and stirred until the sauce thickens slightly and coats everything evenly. Green onions garnish the dish before serving.

The interplay of tender chicken with crisp vegetables and chewy noodles results in a satisfying texture. The sauce blends salty, slightly sweet, and nutty elements from soy, oyster sauce, and sesame oil, typical of lo mein. It can be served as a standalone main meal suitable for lunch or dinner.

Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage. Reheating gently helps maintain texture and flavor without drying the dish.
