Chicken Parmesan Sliders
Description
The recipe assembles sliders by slicing dinner rolls and layering shredded mozzarella, fried chicken strips, marinara sauce, and Parmesan cheese inside. The rolls are then topped and brushed with a seasoned butter that includes garlic and onion powders along with parsley for added flavor. Baking the sliders melts the cheese and crisps the tops of the rolls, creating a satisfyingly gooey and savory bite with a golden exterior.
The use of shredded cheeses rather than processed slices helps achieve better melting, and the layered sauce provides familiar tomato tanginess that complements the crispy fried chicken. The sliders can be portion-controlled easily and served hot immediately after baking.
For convenience, pre-shredded cheese can be used though it may affect melt quality, and smaller batches can be baked in a toaster oven. This makes the recipe adaptable for various serving sizes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound dinner rolls pull apart
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese divided use, shredded
- 6-8 chicken or enough to cover the surface area of the buns, fried strips
- 3/4 cup marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese shredded
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon parsley chopped
Instructions
- Cook fried chicken strips according to package directions, then turn the oven on to 375 degrees.
- Cut the rolls crosswise. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the bottom of the rolls.
- Arrange the chicken strips on top of the cheese.
- Spread the marinara sauce over the top of the chicken fingers.
- Sprinkle the remaining cup of mozzarella cheese plus the parmesan cheese over the layer of sauce. Place the other half of the buns on top.
- In a small bowl mix together the butter, garlic powder, onion powder and parsley. Brush the butter mixture over the top of the rolls.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until tops of rolls are browned and cheese is melted.
- Cut the sandwiches apart and serve immediately.
Notes
- Shredding your own mozzarella and Parmesan cheese helps avoid anti-caking agents and improves melting quality.
- Pre-shredded cheese is acceptable but may not melt as well.
- For smaller portions, these sliders can be baked in a toaster oven instead of a conventional oven.
