Ingredients

  • 1 onion medium
  • 2 Tablespoons neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
  • 1 taco seasoning mix brand Lawry's
  • 1 28 ounce diced tomatoes canned
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt Lawry's brand
  • 1 4 ounce green chiles canned, chopped
  • 1 pound Monterey jack cheese 4 cups, grated
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 6 ounce tortilla chips package

Instructions

  1. Saute onions in oil, until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add tomatoes, taco seasoning, seasoned salt and green chiles. Simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a greased 13" x 9" baking dish, arrange 1/2 of each, tortilla chips, sauce, and Jack Cheese. Repeat layers. Top with sour cream. Bake at 325 degrees F. for 30 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and bake 10 minutes longer.
  5. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
