Chilli con Carne Tacos

Chilli con Carne Tacos feature extra lean beef mince cooked with a chili seasoning mix, canned tomatoes, kidney beans, and jalapeños to create a mildly spicy chili filling. Served inside warmed taco shells with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheddar, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños, this dish offers a customizable taco meal.

Description

This recipe starts by browning the lean beef mince in oil, then combining it with prepared chili seasoning, chopped canned tomatoes, drained red kidney beans, chopped jalapeños, and cold water to form a chili con carne mixture. The chili is brought to a boil, then simmered covered for 15-20 minutes to develop flavors and thicken the sauce slightly.

While the chili cooks, taco shells are warmed as directed on the package. The chili is then divided into bowls for serving alongside warmed taco shells and an array of garnishes including shredded iceberg lettuce, diced tomato, grated cheddar cheese, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños. Guests assemble their own tacos to taste.

The beef mince and beans create a hearty, protein-rich filling with a balance of spicy, savory, and fresh elements from the garnishes. Using a pre-made chili seasoning simplifies preparation and provides consistent flavor.
